The best place to go wingfoiling is the beach of Montgat Nord, which is just next to the train station called Montgat-Nord. You can walk back towards the old town, take a pedastrian tunnel onto the beach where the sailing boats are placed on the sand.
Good winds to go wingfoiling in Montgat are Garbi from 12 knots up and Levante, with the same force. There is a local windsurf club (Club Maritím de Montgat) with passionate surfers. You will probably meet them when you go wingfoiling in Montgat. They are always happy to help.
For parking your car Montgat is a bit tricky, as most areas are for residents only. A good option though if you are not a local, is to park here. Make sure you pay a parking ticket or use the SMOU app from the city of Barcelona to purchase a ticket through the app. You will be at walking distance from the beach.
Montgat
Just north of Barcelona, Montgat is a charming village with a rich history that echoes through its cobblestone streets and sun-kissed beaches. Steeped in Catalan tradition, Montgat’s story dates back centuries, shaped by the ebb and flow of the Mediterranean. Once a humble fishing village, it has gracefully evolved into a haven that seamlessly blends old-world allure with modern vibrancy.
The village, with its white-washed buildings adorned with vibrant shutters, offers a serene escape from the bustling energy of Barcelona. Montgat’s roots intertwine with maritime tales, where fishermen once cast their nets into the azure waters that lap against its shores. There was no beach in the past, the fishermen would pull up their boats against on rails up against the stone levy that holds the trainline. This trainline and Montgat’s train tunnel are the first ones in Spain.
Today, Montgat beckons not only with its historical charm but also with a laid-back atmosphere that attracts locals and visitors alike. Its beaches, with golden sands lapped by the gentle waves, provide a tranquil backdrop for both relaxation and recreation. Whether exploring its historical landmarks, indulging in local cuisine at seaside cafes, or enjoying the simplicity of a sunset over the Mediterranean, Montgat unveils a timeless allure that captivates those who venture to its shores.
