Flat water tidal spot. Best 2 hours either side of low tide. Very steep shelving from the beach so water gets deep suddenly. Edges of the channel are lined with muscle beds so beware of them – probably best riding with foot protection. A current runs as the tide ebbs & flows so also be aware of that, especially if it’s running the same direction as the wind and/or you’re having difficulty getting up!
As the tide comes in you can ride from the beach 500m west of the channel but here there is a shore break & conditions are not so flat, you can get some 1/2 decent waves when the conditions are right, especially little further west at Rossall Point, by the observation tower.
A great, quiet spot but beginners & newcomers be aware of the afore mentioned conditions.
Any wind directions from West to East through North.
