Playa de los Narejos, located on the southern coast of Spain’s Mediterranean, is a nice spot for wingfoiling. It’s especially known for its expansive thermal winds. As part of the Mar Menor, Europe’s largest inland saltwater lagoon which spans an impressive 170km², this location offers a unique wingfoiling experience characterised by its vast water surface and moderate wind conditions. The water is flat so you can go out if you’re a beginner and if you’re an advanced rider as well.
The area is predominantly known as a light wind zone. This is shown by the prevalence of large kites and a significant number of wingfoilers.
The water is shallow so you have to walk a bit out into the water before you get on the foil.
While Mar Menor might not produce the strongest winds, its thermal properties ensure that with timing and location, you can still have a great experience. Take a look at the wind predictions as this spot works well with wind from the south, southwest or north east. If you get wind from the other directions, going to the south of the lake at Playa Honda may be a better idea.
Mar menor is an enclosed lake which makes it work with basically all winds. Normally it's not the windiest place on earth, but it will offer days with good days for wingfoil. When the wind comes from north east or south - south west it works well at this spot.
